Folds and layers
What may fit after a named fold
It is primarily a card and announcement format. When using folded material, measure the finished piece rather than assuming that an A-series paper name implies compatibility.

Exact decimal notation: 4.75 × 6.5 in decimal.
US A6 announcement is a 4 3/4 × 6 1/2 inch envelope name. It is not ISO A6 paper and is not the same rectangle as a C6 envelope.
What commonly fits flat
A common 4 1/2 × 6 1/4 inch card leaves a nominal total difference of 1/4 inch in each dimension before seams, lining and stock thickness.
Seams, lining, stock thickness, contents and manufacturing tolerance can reduce practical room. Confirm the manufactured envelope and sample before bulk use.

Decision
Choose US A6 for a suitably sized US card workflow. Choose C6 for ISO A6 paper or A-series folds, and label the system explicitly when ordering.
Nearest useful alternative
C6 is 114 × 162 mm; US A6 announcement is about 120.65 × 165.1 mm. The naming conflict is more important than their visual similarity.
The overlay is proportional to the canonical nominal dimensions. It compares the face rectangles only; it does not claim equal construction, internal capacity or postal treatment.
Clearance and tolerance
Matcher clearance is applied per edge. Its “remaining” value is the total unused width and height after that allowance. A technically passing result with less than 2 mm remaining on either final dimension is labelled borderline and is never ranked as an ordinary recommendation.
