01Understand the quoted remaining space
The nominal difference is 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) across the full width and full height. If perfectly centred, that corresponds to 0.125 inch per edge before envelope construction is considered. Matcher “remaining” values always mean total unused width and height, not per edge.
02Layered cards need more room
A single thin photo and a layered invitation suite can share the same face dimensions but behave very differently. Ribbon, wax seals, rounded corners, liners and multiple pieces can make a nominal relationship impractical.
03A7 needs a region label
US A7 invitation envelope is unrelated to ISO A7 paper. Use the full regional description when ordering or exchanging specifications.
Nominal envelope dimensions describe the exterior format, not guaranteed usable internal space. Seams, lining, stock thickness, multiple pieces and manufacturing tolerances reduce practical room; sample before a bulk order or print run.
